the best laid plans....

Good morning everyone I'm home at last, how are you all, well and happy I hope...I had planned to get the early coach even though it meant changing midway but the coach was late leaving and I missed my connection and had to wait over 2 hours for another would you believe, so I didn't get a card made for today so I'm showing you some of the piccys I took of the house...well what do you think?...it really is a typical Irish farmhouse isn't it and much much bigger than I remembered this is the side view...the car doesn't come with it, that's ours
this is the side and my gorgeous Phil taking away some mouldy carpet from the door as it was making me queasy, bless him...do you see what I mean about the 'garden', it can hardly be described as that can it lol...the side bit and the front porch are extensions as the original farmhouse would have been two up two down I think...the house has a really wonderful warm feel to it
this is one of the 'roads' leading to the house, the hedges are full of honeysuckle, holly, wild roses and brambles, so loads of blackberries come Autumn...there's a couple of outbuilding which we had a little mooch in and found a tin full off old bills and letters from 1978, some beautiful coloured crockery and a really retro old kitchen dresser which I think is in desperate need of a makeover
this is the view from the main bedroom and all the 'girls' coming to have a look at the daft English folk mad enough to take this on
I picked this photo as it not only shows the rank wallpaper that has to be striped off asap but the depth of the windows and walls, I dont think it will be hard to keep warm with walls this thick do you...Phil went to work and left me measuring windows and floors, do you ever get the feeling your not alone?...I looked up and the farmer who owns the cattle and his son were standing at the gate watching me and grinning, I nearly jumped out of my skin...he waved at me and I just waved and shouted hi...I will keep the rest of the photos and post them when we do the house, that way we can do a before and after reveal...oooohhhhh Im getting all changing room arent I...thank you all so much for your wonderful comments while I was away, I promise I will catch up with you all soon...well Im off out with my Dad today to pick up his ipod (he decided on Blue and thinks the lime green one I have is sickly...what a cheek)...whatever your up to have a fab day everyone and I would love to know what you think of the house cause we love it to bits

Hi Mina!
I love seeing your photos. I have never been to Ireland, and I find it so fascinating to see your home and the surrounding countryside. (I live in the US, in California) I love the house... I'm dieing to see the inside too...It looks so charming. It would be great to see the "in progress" photos. Good luck with stripping the wallpaper, not a fun job!!!
Loved seeing your Holiday pictures as well...wondering where this is. I would have loved seeing all 65 pictures...I'm one of those people who enjoys taking photographs, as well as enjoying others photos.

Wow, looks like a cool farmhouse. I can't wait to see what you do with it. My fav pic is the one w/ the girls, lol - but really, besides seeing them, it shows the gorgeous landscape in the background. Oh and whatever you do, don't walk around nude if you have neighbors looking in, lol!

Oh, Mina, the house is so great! I envy you having such a wonderful place to get away to! Imagine having cows out your window! I love it! And when I saw the picture of the wide window sill I immediately thought how much my cat would love to sit there & stare out at the cows! I can't wait to see the next shots!

Rufus said...

All I could think when I saw the picture of the window sill (after urghhhh that wallpaper has GOT to go) is hmmmm can picture curling up here with a good book. I'd already mentally made the cushion! Can't wait to see more pictures. Enjoy yourself!

I am sooo jealous! It's always been a dream of mine to do a complete house make over. We've lived in the same house for nearly 40 years and it's gone through many transformations, so I guess I did get my dream. Just in a different way.

Well its all been said Mina except when will it be open for Cardmaking Classes....lol We are all eager to visit, hope the Cream teas are part of the deal too.
What a Lovely house, Phil certainly found a treasure here. Can't wait to see what you do with it xx Hugs Mau
