a little bit of picking of brains...

Good morning everyone are you all fit and well I hope so...a quick question before I tell you about my card for today, I was chatting with a friend last night and we decided that although I'm defo an Ikea kinda girl it just wouldn't suit what I'm aiming for in the farmhouse....so....I was thinking that maybe I would go with old junk yard furniture maybe painted or sanded etc...so any good sites that you know or any hints on renovating or even finding furniture like that would be fantastic, I know you crafter's are an untapped font of knowledge...I was thinking maybe charity shops or junk shops but there's not many here...I feel a quick google coming on lol...what would we all do without search engines...hhhhhmmmmm I wonder why they call them engines....oops there I go again lol...right onto my card for today which is for our new special monthly challenge at Just Magnolia and hAnglar and sTanglar challenge and this time its my choice to be host and the theme is Anything Goes with an added option of adding lace, of course you don't need to add lace, just anything you fancy...I used this gorgeous cute little hAnglar girl and I paper pieced here (yes I know yet again lol), this time I made her skirt stand out a little for a bit more dimension and coloured the rest with Distress inks...right now how lush is this paper, its double sided and is from Sassafras Lass and is called Serendipity Daisy Dots...I have a feeling I might have bought this at the NEC last year but I wish I had bought more from this range wherever it was from...I added some lace and ribbon from my stash and cut out some of the flowers and added pearls to the their centres...the fab sketch is from Papertake Weekly challenge...I'm going to make a nice meal for Phil coming home tonight, I have really missed him since we came back from hols you know...so I have to go to the supermarket today gggrrroooaaannnn...whatever your up to today have a brilliant sunny one and when you have time pop on over to Just Magnolia to check out the rest of our wonderful DT's work

I love my Ikea, but I think you're right that it wouldn't be quite right for a farmhouse. If you want inspiration.. I recommend HGTV's, "Sara's House" http://www.hgtv.ca/sarahshouse/theshow.aspx?sectionid=399&categoryid=8337944842383420279&postid=124059
Back to your card. Love the paper piecing, and the flowers, and the coloring. I love it all!

Hi sweetie gorgeous card love the paper piecing hun Tilda looks fab.
You could try ebay hun or for sale ads in shops or paers, there is also a site called Preloved where people sell their things. I love Ikea but I have a new building however I love shabby chic its my fave so I'm forever buying old furniture & giving it the Vicky treatment I've been doing it for years I used to want to be an interior designer but just didnt have time with Natalie. Distressed furniture looks fabulous in old houses....the whole shabby thing.
Hope I've helped a little maybe lol.

Lotsa hugs Vicky xxx

Adorable! I love the angels, but this little gal is just so sweet! And paper piecing just made it perfect!
One of my friends lost all her furniture in a house fire and bought all her new furniture from thrift shops, painted it black (which sounds awful, but was gorgeous)and it all came together into a darling country house.
Good luck!

Perfect paper piecing. Love the color scheme. Don't have any sources for furniture refinishing or antique furniture, sorry. The closest suggestion I have is Tim Holtz!!! Hugs

Hiya,
Gorgeous card, v cute image and I love the colour scheme.
As far as furniture goes, try the channel 4 website and search for Kirstie's Homemade Homes. She's really into altering stuff, so there may be something useful on there. If not, at least some links to useful sites hopefully xx
