a bit of advice needed - Mo's Digital Pencil DT

Good morning everyone how are you all...do you have anything exciting happening this weekend...we were going to take out our lovely Daughter to celebrate her new job but my darling Phil rang last night and there has been an emergency and he cant get home this weekend so I have my sad face on :-(...right I need a bit of advice please, do any of you use a lamp to take their photos or use a light box because I am struggling with daylight atm because it seems really wishy washy and isn't showing the bright colours up and as I don't brighten them they look kinda washed out and grey, so any advice as to make, model etc of a lamp to photograph would be greatly appreciated...right my card for today is for Mo's Digital Pencil, I love this party girl don't you...as soon as I saw Veronica I knew I would use yellow for her for some reason I think it suits her...I coloured her with distress inks and the amazing papers are from Bunny Zoe's Crafts they are from the Whiff of Joy paper pad, I love this pad and the sentiment is from the same pad as there are three sheets of them at the back of it, really handy, I added some butterflies and lush yellow velvet ribbon and knot to finish...the sketch is from Mojo Monday, love their sketches don't you and I'm also entering it for the Creative Inspirations Punches & dies challenge and the DYSU Yellow challenge too...btw did you see I have more candy on the go and the winner of the last candy is in the post below...whatever you have planned I hope you have a fantastic day everyone

Hi, Mina. I'm sorry I'm not able to give you advice for lamps, actually now I'm lucky enough to use natural light btw we had 28°C yesterday!
Your card is another fab one, I love how you used the butterfly on the sentiment. Hugs, Miria

bumer about Phil, have his dessert too then he will be there more! My beloved took some photos of my cards the other day and he put them on a blank canvas that I had and it looked wonderful. The light did not reflect in the same way, I would recomend that.EE

Hi Mina
Fab card.... I was really really trying not to buy that image, cos I have enough already... but now am going to have to I think!
I was given by my darling OH an OTT light for Christmas... and it is perfect for photographing cards. Don't know if you've seen them before, but google them and you'll find out all about them.
Sorry that Phil can't get home this weekend...... what does he do?
Hugs

Good Morning Mina, I love your card its beautiful made but I repeat myself because 99% of the cards you make I do love and that other 1% is gorgeous soo......
I mostly use the special lightbox I bought on my camera. This is great because wenn it is dark in the house, the pics are very natural.
We are going to a concert of Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) tonight Mina, and we ordered the tickets already in august 2010, so tonight yes finally we are going out after a long time of troubles with my hernia.
Have a nice weekend yourself!! Hugs Ageeth xx

Morning Mina, I love the card - gorgeous colours - and love Mo's fab artwork as always. I have had awful light trouble photographing my cards too, but during the week I got a portable mini studio and two daylight lamps (Mother's Day pressie!!!!) off ebay - cost about £50 including postage. I haven't used the setup yet, but have high hopes!! Will let you know how it goes.

Beautiful card, it doesn't look like it's washed out to me :o)
I take my pics in natural daylight with the card on an easel in the window of my craftroom and a sheet of white card behind it, no flash!

Dear Mina, I love the card. What I do when I make a picture...I hang up a white cloth and I'm right next to a big window....but indeed, when it's grey outside, my pics look a bit wishy washy too. I could use my dayligt lamp I use for therapy, but it's such a big lump to put down on my table...so I don't use a lamp...sorry I can't be of much help...

Gorgeous card Mina I love the colours you've used.

As for photos, I do use a Photo Tent - here's a link for the one I have http://www.maplin.co.uk/ebay-photo-studio-kit-229132

It has a blue or grey background, but I use a white sheet instead.

I also tidy my pics up, add a frame and watermark using Paint Shop Pro.

Hope this helps.

I use a daylight spot. The brand is Sumikon, apparently it is German but I bought it on a French online site. I can't really give you advice since I'm not a good photographer...

Hi Mina! I always enjoy seeing your creations. Mo's images always make me smile.
I'm including a link for my blog with instructions for making a VERY simple and inexpensive light box.

Hi sweetie love this card its gorgeous the image is fabulous I love it & I especially love the colour hun. This pad really is gorgeous isn't it I love it.
Regarding your pics hun now I'm trying my best take them outside there is nothing better than natural light on handmade cards. When thats not possible I use a mini light studio which I got off amazon for £50 I got the tent with 4 different coloured backgrounds & it came with 2 photographic lights. It good actually cus it minimises sheen & shadows I havent used mine for a few weeks tho cus I'm still on sorting things out in my craft room so at the mo I'm just using the background out of the tent & a natural daylight lamp. I have 2 big 100 watt lights in my craft room on the ceiling but they are still not as good at the daylight ones....they dont show true colours & I never have any time to edit photos in a package thing....actually I've nver done it lol.

Lotsa hugs Vicky xxx

Hi Mina, wow what a fabulous card! I always love Mo Manning's images but this one made me chuckle! At last a realistic womanly shape, not just a stick-thin one. Yellow really suits her and the velvet ribbon is gorgeous. Love everything about it, fab.

I put my cards on the table (no pun intended LOL) with the ceiling light on and take my photos with my mobile phone, no flash, then edit them with Picasa which is soooo easy to use. Take a look at my blog and see what you think. Now it's brighter outside I'll try good old daylight with a blank canvas behind - thanks Evil Edna for that tip.

Best of luck with photos and enjoy your weekend as best you can without hubby, congrats to daughter.
Hugs,
Ellie Maggie x

Hi Mina :)

I use a variety of methods, from natural daylight in a large window on a good day, to making my own lightbox out of white card on a desk and a daylight lamp. (daylight lamps can make pictures sharp/hard/blue though and so you still have to fiddle with software imo.

but the best thing of all for me is to use adobe lightroom software. Almost 3 or 4 clicks and I'm good to go.

But even when I just want to lighten a little I can get away with the micosoft office picture manager which allows me to adjust the brightness.

I understand what you mean though. I am never happy with the photograph until I have made it look true to the original.

Love your card, its such a fabby image and it does look glorious in yellow.

Hope you still have a cracking weekend,

hugs

Another beautiful card, Mina! Sorry Phil couldn't make it home - hope you're not still wearing your sad face :( and I can't help you with the lightbox - because I need one, too. Most of the time it's still night when I want to photo & post but the photos are yucky in the dark.

Mina, I love the colors. When it's dark & cloudy here I take a pic and go to www.picnik.com and edit. They have lots of free functions and always help me pull out the "real" colors of my cards. ~jeni :)

Party girl looks like she's really enjoying herself on your card, Mina! Yes, yellow is the perfect colour for her!
I use two Daylight brand lamps when I'm taking photos because I find that the natural daylight in our apartment is either too bright or too gloomy!
