art deco friends...

Good morning everyone I hope your all safe and sound...we went to my Dads hearing appointment yesterday and although I knew his hearing had got worse but I didn't realise to what extent, my Dads hearing has always been very poor as he worked in loud environments when he was working which permanently damaged his hearing but his hearing is only 15% in one ear and the other isn't much better...after all the testing and explaining etc my Dad was attached to a machine which would show him what his hearing would be like wearing aids and when I spoke to him his face lit up like a child, hearing everything so clear for the first time in a long time was written across his face, I had to choke back tears then and there until with a cheeky grin he said 'I didn't realise you sounded like that', I have a feeling he was being cheeky lol...anyway he has decided to go ahead and gets his fitting for them next week...it going to be very hard for him as he will have to wear them all day to retrain his brain to recognise sounds he has forgotten, it was described as when he flushes the toilet for the first time after he gets them it will sound like Niagara Falls lol...right now onto my card today which is one of the samples I made for Crafts and Me, this is one of the new Art Deco stamps, these friends are beautiful aren't they (sorry about the shocking photos but I think my camera is coming to end of its life bless it), I coloured them with distress inks and used a scrap of a My Minds eye paper for them, the sentiment is from Making Memories, I bought a whole sheet of these for 50p in a sale would you believe, I so wish I had bought more...Phil's coming home tonight as he has two days holiday booked, he needs the rest the poor man is tuckered out so I'm off to the supermarket to cook something nice for him...whatever your up to today have a brilliant one

Ooh! I'm first to comment...do I win a prize? This is dead posh Mina!! Wish I'd had more success when I went to get my hearing checked...I was told me my hearing's fine & I just lacked 'concentration'!! I was so insensed, I left the hospital. My dad & his mum were both deaf in the same ear as my problems...GRRR! Rant over...

Oh so elegant Mina! Love your colouring as always...
Glad your Dad is getting some help with his hearing.... though can't he have the volume on low to start with then work up to normal? And obviously his hearing was his excuse for his speeding ticket.... he couldn't hear the engine!! LOL!

Wow your dad must have been suffering a canny bit hun hearing things my hubsters hearing is not great he has an aid in one ear but its not as bad as your dads hun. It will be sooooo much better for him when he gets his hearing aids, my mum has always been partially deaf & had to even learn sign language altho it used to annoy her.....she does however knows swear words lol & she was great when bible bashers came to the door as she would pretend she was deaf & dumb & they would just leave lol.......

Gorgeous classy card Mina, those girls are sooooo elegant and work beautifully with your papers. So glad that dad decided to go ahead - losing any of the senses is such a cruel thing so to be able to regain some of that loss is wonderful. I hope he doesn't find the adjustment period too wearing! Hugs Sxx

I have some similar staps to these...you have inspired me to drag them out again and give them a go :-)
As for your dad. Tell him to pace himself with his aids when he gets them and just wear them for short periods at a time. I too wear hearing aids and they are amazing when you first put them in. I couldn't believe the sounds I had forgotten! But they are tiring, imagine being at a rave right next to the speaker all the time when you are normally used to listening to classic FM! I used to put mine in for ten minutes and leave them out for twenty until i gradually built it up and now wear them without thinking about it. They will certainly improve his quality of life :-) Wish him well from me xx

Absolutely amazing!!!! Fab card. A friend of mine went deaf after a virus and needed a hearing aid,she couldnt bear to hear the cutlery being put in the drawer and has since had it adjusted to eliminate that sound. There's a few noises I wouldn't mind getting removed from mine lol! Enjoy your shop,Julie x

Hi Mina :)

I understand just how you feel hun. My dad was born with perforated ear-drums and I have seen him suffer all his life with ear-ache and loss of hearing. I remember when he got fitted for his hearing aid a few years back he said he never knew ripping toilet paper made a noise! :D lol.

It changed his life, and even I cant hear his telly as he has it on so low. It will change your dads too! :)

Love your elegant and very posh card! Lovely detailing.

hugs

A gorgeous card Mina - I love that stripy paper!

I hope I don't offend you with this but the story about your dad reminded me of a joke - A man went in to see his doctor complaining of a lot of wind. He said "Doctor, I hope you can help me, I suffer terribly from wind. The only good thing is that it's quiet and has no smell - I bet you won't believe me when I tell you I haven't stopped farting since I came in here!" The doctor looked at him for a moment then said "That is a terrible problem, but I think the first thing we'll have to sort out is your hearing and then we'll sort out your nasal infection"!!

lol!

So classy. I love the soft flow of their gowns. You captured the shadows perfectly. Kinda looks like the style of Kate. Maybe she is bringing it back.

Glad to hear your Dad is getting some help! He is going to be a handful when he is hearing again. Watch your mumbling, ha ha.

What stylish ladies! They are colored to perfection & make such a gorgeous card. I'm glad your dad has decided to get hearing aids. Mine refused so we have to yell at him & he still hears only parts of what is said.

Lovely card! So glad that you Dad decided to go ahead with the hearing aids. I'm sure even he didn't realize how much he Wasn't hearing. Be prepared for some repeat visits to get them "fine tuned". At least my Mom had to have a number of visits till they got them just right.
Have a marvelous time with Phil!
