Im back...with piccys...

Good morning everyone I hope you have all been well and happy while I was away...well where to start, well we went to Ikea last weekend and bought loads and loads of goodies and a couple of huge bargains we even went to Next and bought bedding for the single beds in one of the spare rooms, and lush it is too, if you fancy a look its here. and two heather coloured throws for the bottom of the beds...Phil had Skytv put in and its totally addictive I don't know how anyone gets anything done if they have Sky its like chewing gum for the eyes, on Monday I watched back to back Jerry Springer and Dr Who by lunchtime I was brain dead so switched it off and got on with finishing the hall (I will show you piccys of the hall later as there's enough on this one I think, well I dont want to bore you do I lol...I finally got on with the dining room later on in the week...here's the before and after pictures for you...
Dining room - stinky, smelly and so dirty you wouldn't believe

and after with my lush Laura Ashley wallpaper, cream walls and Next light fitting (Phil picked this, the training is certainly working lol)

the walls look cream but were in fact filthy stinky white wallpaper
a lot brighter and.....it smells good too

what do you think of our bargain wallpaper £4 a roll (for the living room)

our bargain 2x3metres huge rug from Ikea for a bargain £12 (yes thats £12) because the stitching was unravelled (I did sew it though) how gorgeous is the lush sandstone floor we found under the rank carpet its beautiful but very cold for someone who walks around barefooted like me hence the rug, I hate the table and chairs (if orange pine stands still long enough around me it usually gets painted) but they will have to do for now
well what do you think...that's a lot better isn't it, the hall is just as fresh and bright looking too and it really shows the floor to its best...oh and I must tell you I switched on the dehumidifier the first night to make sure the dining room was bone dry for wallpapering (we got about 6 full tanks in the time we had it on) and the vibration brought a gang of beasties out...I went into the kitchen and there was two earwigs, three spider, a massive black beetle and a slug, a slug would you believe...I thought I had walked into a horror movie lol...bit of advice needed before I leave you in peace...I'm kinda stumped for the windows, I love the views and the windows are gorgeous being so deep, my lovely Phil would like curtains but I think it will cover the windows too much so I thought either cafe curtains or blinds...go on now agree with me so please so I can report back to Phil the votes have it on my side lol...loads more to tell you but you must have better things to do today so instead enjoy your wonderful Sunday and I will speak to you tomorrow, its a busy double DT post tomorrow too but I will hopefully catch up with all your lush work tonight

Hi Mina,
What a transformation!! Love the beautiful reds you have gone for.
I would defo go for blinds on those wonderful windows. Love how deep they are. Roman blinds would look lush. To match the wallpaper.
Love, Mel. xx

That looks stunning Mina, love the red paper. Think curtains would be too much, cafe curtains would look good or you could have a pole and drape voile around the top and down one side, if you know what I mean.
Looking forward to the next instalment.

Wow it's all so beautiful! What a transformation! Before you even got to it I was thinking cafe curtains. Blinds if you need privacy at times. I'm a curtain person but those windows are so lovely they shouldn't be covered up.
Looking forward to the next installment...

Oh Mina this is so wonderful. That table looks so inviting. I just want to sit down and have a cup of tea and a nice chat!

My vote on the window treatments is a roman shade that you can pull up in the day and down at night. It would give you the classic look you already have going on. My other idea is a shear or Irish Lace curtain or valance. It won't provide privacy, but if that's not an issue, it will give a finished look Phil is wanting while allowing light to filter in.

Thanks for letting me share on your journey.

Your transformation was worth the wait! I love what you have done. Especially the Laura Ashley red. I wouldn't cover the window, just a swag across the top or a blind for privacy. I could definitely see a big fluffy cat laying in that window soaking up the sun!

Ughhh on the critters, YEA on the transformation! Oh I'd def go with some sort of blinds. That way you could open them up and see all of the window and the view and let that lovely sun stream in. Can't wait for the next installment!!

Oh Mina, such a gorgeous transformation! Looks like a photo from a magazine. Love all the work you did on it!

You really are making amazing progress with your farmhouse, Mina - no wonder you're falling asleep!

I must say I prefer the softer look of curtains drawn well back off the windows. I think that cafe curtains would spoil your wonderful views. I hope you let us know your final decision!
