a rant on my soapbox moment...

Good morning everyone I hope your all well and happy and enjoying this bit of good weather we are having...although if we wait a few days I'm sure a storm will come along to wash us out...ok prepare yourself for a soapbox moment...over the last few days our small town has been in shock at the murder of a well loved and very well know 72 year old man who lived with and looked after his disabled wife, a man (well I call him a man there's a lot more choice words to describe him though) broke into their home at 1.30am and he tried to stop the burglar who fought with him then moved onto his 70 year old wife who was in bed unable to get up...he demanded money from her and left with £376 and her purse, she rang an ambulance and the police but her husband was dead by the time they arrived...what the hell is wrong with this world when someone could do this to such a lovely fragile couple for the sake of a few pound...I really despair for mankind sometimes don't you...as you can imagine I'm hardly sleeping with worry over my precious Dad as they haven't caught the man yet (hes local as he had a local accent so probably knew the couple and their circumstances), I have tried but cant persuade him to come to me as he doesn't want someone like this thug to chase him out of his home, of course it doesn't stop us worrying sick, about him...why and how do things like this happen, I feel sick at the thought of what that couple went through...I'm sorry about the rant but it has been stuck in my throat and had to come out...right now enough ranting and onto my card for today using this stunning Simply Adorable image from Funky Kits this is the beautiful Connie...isn't she beautiful, I love colouring the Simply Adorables don't you, I used distress inks and teamed her up with some of the My Minds Eye Six by Six Honey Cake paper pad, one of my bargain buys...I finished my card with some gorgeous cotton gingham ribbon and bow and a few flowers cut from the same paper pad...the fab sketch is from Mojo Monday and I'm also entering it for the Card Makin Mamas challenge and the Creative Card Crew challenge...its supermarket day with my lovely Dad today and don't worry I will keep trying to persuade him to stay, you never now maybe we will even manage a put the world to rights coffee too lol...whatever your up to today stay safe

Mina, I agree with you and I hate to say what should happen to people who commit such crimes. I feel we let criminals get away with too much, but that's another whole subject. Your card is GORGEOUS!!! Love your coloring as usual. Take care of Dad and yourself.

So understandable that this terrible news stays in your head. Fortunately, we find this not normal. Addicted people are extremely sick and always need money... Hope they will find this murder soon.
Your card is unbelievably beautiful! I wish it were possible just to see how you this creates this beautiful color work.

Hi hon.... oh I'm so sorry that something like this can happen... but there are some terrible people in the world. Years ago, my sister-in-laws mother was broken into, and when she tried to stop the burglar, she was raped. She was 80. I could not believe what had happened, and of course she never got over it. The burglar was caught and jailed - he had been on drugs, as you can imagine.

I do hope this guy is caught too - and put in jail with the key thrown away.

Hmmmm rant over, on a lighter note - your card is FABULOUS!

Big hugs
Christine x

Mina, this is shocking and so sad. And then I thought South Africa was one of the most dangerous countries to live in as life here is worth nothing as one gets shot for no reason even. I really feel for the lady, may she find comfort and happy memories of her beloved.
Your card is gorgeous and you have coloured so beautifully.

Oh Mina Sad to say things like this happens far to often. Not long ago an elderly couple and their disabled daughter were all beaten to death in their home in a gated community by a drug crazed animal. It is frightening to have something like that happen so close to home. I’ve always hated guns but no longer object to my husband having one loaded and with in reach.
What a lovely card but then all your cards are.
Hugs

Hi Mina, Sweet card, cute image, and beautiful coloring. I understand how up setting that crime must be to you. I just found out about a crime that happen here in the states, that involved 5 black people attacking a white couple. They cut off the white man's penis, then burnt and shot him, as they did this they made his girlfriend watch the whole attack. The post I read said that what was done to the girlfriend was so horrible they did not want to go into details. Yesterday when I read this I felt so angry, and so sick. It is so horrible what mankind is becoming, sometimes I wonder what separates people like that from animals. I hope your able to eventually talk your Dad into coming to be with you. I know how hard it is for them to give up their independence. Hugs to you.

Stunning card Mina, gorgeous image and colouring, so pretty...

And, so sorry to say...but it is happening here too, and not only the elderly, our sicko's are attacking wee children, right next door to me was the last one, and it makes you feel sick inside.
Our bus drivers are not safe, nor taxi cabs, all for a few dollars.
You never heard of murders in our country when I was young, but now it is an everyday occurance, and it is scary when you live alone...and it happens on your back doorstep.
I think the penalties need to be toughened up...no more smacks on the hand and saying"oh! he had a hard up bringing"..

I now step off my soapbox...

Oh dear Mina, I completely understand why you are so worried for your Daddy. I was so upset for that poor wee woman who is now left without her husband. But I do see your Daddy's point of view too. Why should he leave his home because of one greedy wee bugger. Its a terrible quandary and one you and your Daddy should never have had to think about. Maybe your Daddy should consider getting an alarm in with the security lights or one that maybe triggers dogs barking. Its so so sad that this is the world we live in. I really hope they find this guy soon. Someone is bound to know who this guy is, Im convinced of it. And how they haven't turned him in is beyond me. Your card is really beautiful as always Mina. Aww Mina, this is so sad. Crime here is just as bad. It breaks my heart to think of the pain your poor neighbors experienced. God certainly must be crying in heaven!

Don't worry about your Dad, I have a feeling that if he was robbed, your Dad could set him right in a minute. LOL.

This card is a precious little girl. I do love those Sweet Nellies. I use one myself this week.

Thanks for entering my Candy. Good luck Mina.

Oh, Mina, I'm so sorry to read about what happened in your town. It always seems to happen to those who least deserve something terrible like that. I suppose that's why he picked them. As for your darling Dad, he's just talk 'em down! Hope you had a good cupa with him and got it all solved. Today's card is just fantastically fabulous! I love these, but have never purchased one...I just know I'd be mega disappointed in my coloring of the face and eyes. You, on the other hand, do her up beautifully!
Thinking of you,

Adorable card - I just love this image :)
